On August 25, 2023, we had the privilege of assisting our esteemed faculty body at CAI (Infosys Center for Artificial Intelligence) in organizing an event. During this event, 33 first-year students from diverse academic backgrounds, including MBBS, BTech in computer science, mechanical engineering, civil engineering, and statistics, visited our campus from West Bengal.

The event kicked off with inspirational talks from Dr. Ganesh Bangler on AI-driven culinary creativity and Dr. Sanat Biswas on the captivating applications of AI in space exploration. Subsequently, a challenge was presented where students had to brainstorm solutions for AI-related problem statements. This segment was expertly coordinated by the Cyfuse team.

Further into the event, students were divided into seven teams, each participating in three distinct parts:

  1. Problem Statement Selection: Students had a brief five minutes to choose a problem statement to work on for the next 25 minutes.

  2. Ideation Phase: During this phase, we guided students in harnessing their creative thinking over the next 20 minutes.

  3. Idea Pitching Presentation: The judging panel for this phase consisted of Dr. Pijush Basak, Junior Scientific Officer at JBNSTS, along with Mohit (Coordinator of Cyfuse) and Udit (Project Head at Cyfuse). All teams presented their brilliant ideas, and their efforts were commendable.

In addition to the above, we also organized an activity where students explored how AI impacts daily routines and experiences without requiring coding. They selected everyday tasks, researched AI's role in enhancing those tasks, and discussed its impact, both positive and potentially negative, in a class presentation and discussion.

Overall, it was a successful event with enthusiastic participation. Problem statements covered areas such as culinary creativity, healthcare ethics, remote patient monitoring, space exploration, and more. After a rigorous pitching round, Team Scorpius emerged as the winning team, receiving diaries and E-certificates.
