Challenges for AI in Drone Delivery

Abstract:
Drone delivery is rapidly gaining popularity as an innovative solution for modern logistics.
Traditionally, packages are delivered by drone services to doorsteps. To reduce delivery times and
provide packages directly to people’s hands, some start-ups have introduced an approach that
involves delivery to windows or balconies. However, significant challenges are posed by delivering
to such locations, mainly when standard drone technologies are utilized.
The complexities associated with drone delivery will be explored during the presentation, with a
specific focus on the difficulties of delivering to windows. It will be argued that artificial intelligence
(AI) can be crucial in overcoming these challenges. Various obstacles in drone delivery will be
discussed, highlighting how AI solutions can effectively address them through advanced
navigation algorithms, obstacle detection, real-time decision-making, etc.
Furthermore, the specific challenges AI must address in this context will be discussed, particularly
the need to ensure safety, reliability, and efficiency in unpredictable urban environments. By
exploring these factors, the presentation will shed light on the future of drone delivery and the
groundbreaking impact of AI within this rapidly evolving field.
