Systems Engineer

The Systems Engineer will be responsible for managing the IT infrastructure of the Infosys Center for Artificial Intelligence (CAI) at IIIT Delhi. This includes the installation, configuration, maintenance, and monitoring of servers (CPU and GPU), operating systems, network equipment, storage devices, cluster setups, and software applications. The Systems Engineer will work closely with other members of the IT team to ensure that the infrastructure is secure, reliable, and efficient. They will also work with researchers and faculty members to understand their needs and provide them with the necessary resources and support.

Role

The Systems Engineer will be responsible for managing the IT infrastructure of the Infosys Center for Artificial Intelligence (CAI) at IIIT Delhi. This includes the installation, configuration, maintenance, and monitoring of servers (CPU and GPU), operating systems, network equipment, storage devices, cluster setups, and software applications. The Systems Engineer will work closely with other members of the IT team to ensure that the infrastructure is secure, reliable, and efficient. They will also work with researchers and faculty members to understand their needs and provide them with the necessary resources and support.

Responsibilities
• Install, configure, and maintain servers, operating systems, network equipment, and storage devices.
• Setup and maintain cluster computing environments for high-performance computing.
• Configure and optimize CPU and GPU hardware and software for machine learning and artificial intelligence workloads.
• Install, configure, and maintain software applications required for research and development, including databases, programming languages, and scientific computing libraries.
• Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
• Ensure system security by implementing appropriate security measures and policies.
• Work with researchers and faculty members to understand their computational needs and provide technical support.
• Manage backup and disaster recovery procedures to ensure data availability and integrity.
• Document system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.

Qualifications and Desirable Skills
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in IT infrastructure management, preferably in an academic or research environment.
• Proficiency in Linux system administration, network configuration, and cluster computing.
• Experience with GPU hardware and software configuration for machine learning and artificial intelligence workloads.
• Familiarity with database management, programming languages, and scientific computing libraries.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot issues independently.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Experience with cloud computing and virtualization technologies is a plus.
