Speaker's Bio: Sudeep Sarkar is a Distinguished University Professor and Chair of Computer Science andEngineering and the co-Director of the USF Institute for ArtificialIntelligence (AI+X). He received his B.Tech. degree from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, and an M.S. andPh.D. in Electrical Engineering, on a University Presidential Fellowship, fromThe Ohio State University, Columbus. Hehas more than 35-year expertise in computer vision and pattern recognitionalgorithms and systems, holds 10 U.S. patents and licensed technologies, andhas published high-impact journal and conference papers. He received theNational Science Foundation CAREER award in 1994, the USF TIP Award forUndergraduate Teaching Excellence in 1997, the Outstanding UndergraduateTeaching Award in 1998, and the Ashford Distinguished Scholar Award in 2004. Heis a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS),Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and InternationalAssociation for Pattern Recognition (IAPR), American Institute for Medical andBiological Engineering (AIMBE), and a Fellow and member of the Board ofDirectors of the National Academy of Inventors (NAI). He has served on many journal boards and isthe Editor-in-Chief for Pattern Recognition Letters.
